The world’s foremost color authority, Pantone, chose a crisp, cool hue of blue for its 2020 Color of the Year, aptly dubbed “Classic Blue”. A simple and timeless choice (especially considering the bold and unusual choices of the last few years), Pantone explained that the shade is intended to instill “calm, confidence, and connection” during a chaotic era when we “desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build.”

Each year, Pantone selects a color to define the year ahead using color psychology and trend forecasts. This year’s traditional choice takes a nod from the current political climate; according to Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, the traditional choice serves as a “solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on.” Keep an eye out for this pretty shade of blue in the year ahead, as it will likely be accenting the runways and top interior decor choices!
