From sunny 70 degree days to blizzard warnings, March can be a crazy month for weather!  Thankfully, we’re already enjoying beautiful spring weather, and now is the time to prepare your home for the (much!) warmer months ahead. Consider the following home maintenance ideas to get your home in tip-top shape this season:

Home Maintenance

One of the most important things is to clean out your gutters prior to April showers. You can DIY this yourself, or call the pros for approximately $150-250 for a 2,500 square foot home – and to make your life easier next year, consider installing gutter guards.

If you have a deck, be sure to clean it and check for any needed repairs before the warmer months.  Deck cleaning companies are available for a few hundred dollars as a shortcut.  And for those homeowners with a yard, consider powering up your lawn equipment (including your mower and weed whacker) to ensure that they’re in good working order. March and early April are also a good time to prune any rose bushes, if you have them!

Home Maintenance

Your roof can take a beating during the winter months, so it’s a good idea to check for any missing shingles or other issues. Some roof repairs are DIY-friendly (click here for a helpful tutorial), but more complicated issues may require the help of a roofing contractor.   And if you have access to your attic, be sure to inspect it for any damp spots or leaking.
