Settlement Day: What Should I Expect?

Settlement (also known as the “closing”) is the day that you officially take possession of your new home. It’s an exciting time and is usually hosted at a title insurance company or real estate agency. A few weeks prior to settlement, an exact time and location will be set up.

We always have lots of fun at EveryHome settlements!

Your real estate agent, lender, title insurance agent, and the seller’s agent will all be in attendance and there will be lots of documents to sign. Be sure to bring your driver’s license or other government-issued photo ID!
Typically, settlement will take under an hour and a half. Some situations can warrant settlement taking a bit longer, so we usually recommend that our clients take the day off of work — plus, you’ll want to enjoy your new home afterwards!

If you’re selling your home, your EveryHome agent would be happy to attend settlement on your behalf.
