Deed Scam from Record Transfer Services
If you’ve recently purchased a home and you receive a bill from “Record Transfer Services,” it is a scam!
Pulling from a database of buyers who have recently settled on a new home, this company (as well as a few others) is sending fake bills to buyers across the country for $80+ in exchange for a copy of their new deed. In reality, your deed will be mailed to you for free after settlement and if you ever need another copy, they can be purchased from your county for just a couple dollars. Don’t fall for this deed scam!!

Unfortunately, these types of scams aren’t too uncommon. If you receive any similar type of bill before or after settlement and it’s not related to your mortgage company, be sure to let your real estate agent and/or lender know.
