Buckshire: An estate, which has been extensively documented for its refined elegance, refuge, and historical significance, is newly available and ready to convey to its next stewardship. Mr. Child was married to the heiress Fredericka Boyles and his twin brother, Paul Child, was married to the world renown writer and French chef, Julia Child. In fact, Julia and Paul had their wedding reception on this estate in September of 1946. To date, the home still maintains the integrity of Julia’s design of the kitchen, including her Wolf range, and the wrap-around garden mural in the dining room painted by Charlie. There have been so many countless embellishments over the years, especially by owners, Tim and Millena Coffey, it would be impossible to record them all. There are 3 sets of French doors which creates an in/outdoor setting and beckons guests to ascend to the lush gardens below via the dual flanking staircases. Dining Room: Muraled fresco walls painted by Charles Child in the 1930’s, French antique chandelier and sconces. Mahogany raised paneled wall and windows, china pantry, and wood stove. Kitchen: Vintage Wolfe stove with stainless steel backsplash and vent, a two burner electric Gaggenau cooktop, marble pastry countertop, large cutting board atop center island, duel sinks, silverware and linen chest, breakfast room, with a six-foot high sweeping bay window plus slate flooring. Primary BR: a private stairway ascends to a reading nook complete with chandelier, cushioned window seat, and creates the entrance into a lovely primary bedroom suite. Windows on 3-sides give a panoramic view of the exceptional landscape. French doors to a Juliet balcony, two custom cedar lined closets. Primary Bath: L-shaped mirror with vanity lighting, black and white tiles, sit-in shower, and jetted soaking tub. 2nd BR: Large with an entire wall of closets and has a second door entrance from the “nanny bridge” off the back staircase. 3rd BR: Toile & baton covered (super quiet), French “Le lit clos breton” bed. 4th BR: Red toile de Jouy bed drapes. 2nd Floor Bath: Tiled floor to ceiling w/ bath/shower combo.
