Willistown Township Quick Facts
Willistown Township traces its modern day roots to 1681, when it was part of the Welsh tract for William Penn. The township was originally called “Willeston.” In 1710, some of the very first roads (cowpaths) in the area were established in Willistown Township, and they remain under the same name today – Goshen, Sugartown and Boot Roads.

The majority of homes in WIllistown Township use a Malvern mailing address, although some parts of the municipality use Newtown Square, Berwyn, or West Chester.

Willistown Township is part of the Great Valley School District, which serves part of Philadelphia’s prestigious Main Line in eastern Chester County. The district is regularly ranked among the very top public school systems in Pennsylvania.

In addition to Great Valley School District, a number of private schools are located within the boundaries of the township, including The Phelps School and Villa Maria Academy.
