Marple Township

Situated in the northern end of Delaware County, Marple is a convenient, suburban township with moderately-priced homes in an award-winning school district. The municipality includes the popular town of Broomall and is situated just a few minutes from the walkable communities of Media and Wayne. The township is home to approximately 23,000 residents across 10.5 square miles.

The township of Marple traces its modern-day history back to 1683 when a group of Quakers settled in the land of William Penn. Marple Township likely derived its name from the city of Marpool in England. Today, the Marple Township Historical Society actively works to preserve and document the heritage of the community.

The majority of homes in Marple Township use the mailing address of Broomall, although portions of the municipality are located in the Springfield (Delaware County) and Media zip codes.

Marple Township is part of the award-winning Marple Newtown School District, which emphasizes highly individualized education and offers nineteen rigorous Advanced Placement (AP) classes for high school students. Plus, there are a number of revered, selective private schools just a few minutes away, including the Agnes Irwin School, Episcopal Academy, and Malvern Prep.

Additionally, Delaware County Community College is located in Marple Township.

Marple Township is largely residential and quiet, but located just a couple of minutes from major shopping centers, restaurants, and the walkable downtown areas of Media and Wayne.

The township is also located near plenty or park and recreational opportunities. Paxon Hollow Country Club, Kent Park, Veterans Park and Lawrence Park are just a few local favorites. Hildacy Farm Preserve is also located within Marple, and offers 55-acres of trails and woodlands that attract beautiful wildlife, especially birds.

Homes in Marple Township tend to be priced at or just above the Delaware County Average, with the majority of single homes priced between $300,000 and $500,000. While many of the homes are moderately priced and located on quiet, established streets, there are also plenty of higher-priced luxury homes nestled in picturesque subdivisions and cul-de-sacs.

Another popular option within Marple Township is a newer luxury townhome. Many of these places offer beautiful amenities and tend to sell quickly! For something a bit more affordable, be sure to consider a modest “diamond in the rough” single home. While they don’t come up for sale too often, they tend to be a great value and are popular with investors!
