Lower Salford Township Quick Facts
Lower Salford was originally part of the much larger Salford Township. Jacob Reiff petitioned to separate the townships in 1741, and Lower Salford became its own entity.

One of the oldest buildings in the area is located within Lower Salford! Heckler Plains is located on 36-acres and features a barn from 1761, and an 18th century kitchen garden. Be sure to visit the family-friendly annual Hecklerfest, which offers butter churning and soap making!

The villages of Lederach, Mainland and Vernfield are also located within Lower Salford. However, this entire area uses the mailing address of “Harleysville.”

Lower Salford is located within the award-winning Souderton Area School District. The district’s high school was recently ranked #18 in Pennsylvania (out of 500+) by U.S. News and World Report.

Lower Salford is home to a few great restaurants, including Brazzo Italian Restaurant, and the Mainland Grille. Plus, foodies will love Mainland Inn! The local favorite offers an eclectic, seasonal menu and an elegant atmosphere.

If you love to bike, run or walk, you’ll love the trails and parks in Lower Salford! The extensive park system includes Alderfer Park, Bergey Park, Jacob Reiff Park, and Wawa Park. Some of these open spaces also offer pavilions that are available to reserve for parties and gatherings.
