Limerick Township

While Limerick’s status as a township was not officially recorded until 1726, its history dates back to 1698 when it was named for the hometown of early settler, William Evans – Limerick, Ireland!

The township has become increasingly popular in the past couple of decades, and the population has increased dramatically. In fact, the population almost tripled from the 1990 census (6,600 residents) to the 2010 census (18,074 residents)!

Limerick is also located alongside the Schuylkill River, and offers plenty of nearby recreational facilities. Additionally, Turtle Creek Golf Course and Landis Creek Golf Club are located within the municipality.
