Franconia Township
Scenic, friendly, and peaceful! Franconia township is home to approximately 13,000 people over nearly 14 square miles in Montgomery County. The township is among the more quiet, rural municipalities in the area. With a strong tradition of agriculture, Franconia is home to an abundance of farms, woodlands, and rolling hills. It’s also located in the award-winning Souderton Area School District!
Franconia Township Quick Facts
Franconia derives its name from its German heritage, “Land of the Franks.” Much of the town’s earliest settlers were from Germany, and the town continues to embrace its strong Mennonite heritage. Franconia remains a popular place to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities. While the township leaders work hard to preserve much of its history, the population has consistently grown. In fact, Franconia’s population grew by over 13% from 2000 to 2010!

Large, family-owned agricultural businesses remain prominent in the area, including Moyer Packing (Mopac), Leidy’s, and Marcho Farms.

The township is served by the Souderton Area School District – named one of the top districts in the state by U.S. News and World Report! Additionally, there are plenty of private school options located nearby, including Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Indian Creek Mennonite School, and Grace Christian School.
What To Do In Franconia Township

The township hosts a fishing derby each year, as well as concerts in the park (for free!) featuring the popular Mango Men.

Franconia is home to the Indian Valley Country Club, and Earl-Bowl Lanes.
Real Estate in Franconia Township
Homes in Franconia Township tend to be priced a bit below the Montgomery County average. The majority of homes for sale are single-family homes between $300,000 and 500,000, although a variety of home styles and prices are for sale. Popular home styles include Colonials, Cape Cods, and historic homes on generously sized lots. Most of the homes in the township offer more than a half of an acre of land.

Franconia Township is home to more and more new construction, as the population grows. Much of the new construction starts around $400,000, and luxury home styles are also typically available ($550,000+).

Looking for something a bit smaller and more affordable? Be sure to check out the ranch homes closer to Souderton and Telford Borough. It’s not uncommon to find a great home for under $200,000.
