Franconia Township Quick Facts
Franconia derives its name from its German heritage, “Land of the Franks.” Much of the town’s earliest settlers were from Germany, and the town continues to embrace its strong Mennonite heritage. Franconia remains a popular place to live, work, and enjoy recreational activities. While the township leaders work hard to preserve much of its history, the population has consistently grown. In fact, Franconia’s population grew by over 13% from 2000 to 2010!

Large, family-owned agricultural businesses remain prominent in the area, including Moyer Packing (Mopac), Leidy’s, and Marcho Farms.

The township is served by the Souderton Area School District – named one of the top districts in the state by U.S. News and World Report! Additionally, there are plenty of private school options located nearby, including Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Indian Creek Mennonite School, and Grace Christian School.
