Charlestown Township

Nestled among the rolling hills of eastern Chester County, Charlestown Township is a tranquil and scenic municipality featuring beautiful estate properties. The historic township is also located within the award-winning Great Valley School District, and near a number of esteemed private schools. Charlestown Township is home to approximately 5600 residents across 12.5 square miles.

The township enjoys a rich history and is also home to the Charlestown Village Historic District. Additionally, a number of local farms and buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places including the Jacob Wisner House and the John Williams Farm.

Charlestown Township is part of the Great Valley School District, which serves part of Philadelphia’s prestigious Main Line in eastern Chester County. The district is regularly ranked among the very top public school systems in Pennsylvania.

Served by several post offices, Charlestown Township residents may have mailing addresses of Malvern, Devault, Chester Springs or Phoenixville.

Charlestown is an intentionally residential, quaint community with few businesses or major retailers in town. However, the convenient municipality is just a couple of minutes from large stores and restaurants. Plus, the delicious eateries and boutiques of Malvern Borough are just five minutes away!

For an afternoon outdoors, be sure to head to the Great Valley Nature Center, a non-profit environmental education center. They offer year-round programming that is fun for the whole family.

Additionally the University of Valley Forge (formerly Valley Forge Christian College) is partially located within Charlestown Township, as well as the Pickering Valley Golf Club.

Homes in Charlestown Township tend to be priced above the Chester County Average, and like much of Philadelphia’s Main Line, the majority of single-family homes are valued over $700,000.

While many of the homes in beautiful Charlestown are stone manors and well-maintained historic estates, there are also plenty of new construction options. In fact, some of the most popular new neighborhoods in the area are located in Charlestown! In addition to plenty of new single-family homes, there are also an abundance of newer luxury townhomes, typically priced between $300,000 and $500,000.

Single-family homes under $350,000 don’t hit the market too often in Charlestown, but be sure to check out the more modest townhome and condo communities nearby for a more budget-friendly option.
