Kitchen Staging : The Inexpensive Way

Kitchen Upgrades for Less

It’s no secret that the kitchen is one of the most important rooms in your home, so why not show it off to prospective buyers? Here are our five favorite ways to spruce up your kitchen for just a few bucks (no expensive and time-consuming renovations required!)

 1. Clean, declutter, and organize. Perhaps this is obvious, but you’d be surprised to see how many beautiful homes for sale have tons of “stuff” on the counters. Also, be sure to carefully check for any foul odors coming from the garbage, garbage disposal, or the potatoes that have been in your pantry for four years (hey, we’re guilty too!), as well as any little critters such as ants or fruit flies.

2. Buyers will likely peek inside your pantry or cupboards, so consider keeping them neatly organized and arranged. Consider removing excess food, dishes, and serve ware and storing it in the basement or attic temporarily. Not only will it look beautiful, but it will also show the buyers that you’re a tidy homeowner who takes pride in his or her home!

3. Add a pop of color with some fresh flowers, a fruit bowl, or any other greenery. Easy, inexpensive, and looks beautiful!

4. Well-placed, tasteful accessories will add a little glamour. Consider fancy soap at the sink, a few of your nicest cookbooks on display, or an elegant tea kettle placed on the stove. Be careful to not overdo it, though — typically just 2 or 3 fancy items will do the trick.

5. Let in the light! Be sure to open the blinds prior to any showings or open houses. A naturally lit, open-style kitchen is the number one request we get from buyers….so show it off!
