Characterized as a large, semi-rural school district, Souderton Area School District has become a popular choice for families who are interested in a little more land and award-winning public schools.

The district’s new high school just opened its doors in 2009! Now located in Franconia township, the state-of-the-art facility offers expansive classrooms, the latest technology, and beautiful grounds to accommodate athletic and outdoor events.

Souderton has garnered attention for its impressive student-run environmental program (Students Against Violating the Earth), it’s national champion robotics team, and impressive water polo teams.

Ranked #18 in the state by U.S. News and World Report, Souderton Area High School consistently achieves high scores on state proficiency tests and the college readiness index.

Souderton Area School District serves approximately 6800 students in an area covering approximately fifty square miles. The district operates nine schools, including EMC Elementary School, Franconia Elementary School, Oak Ridge Elementary School, Salford Hills Elementary School, Vernfield Elementary School, West Broad Street Elementary School, Indian Valley Middle School, Indian Crest Middle School, and Souderton Area High School.

If you like a big backyard, friendly neighbors and lots of fresh air, you’ll love Souderton Area School District! The district comprises Lower Salford, Salford, Upper Salford and Franconia townships, as well as Souderton and Telford boroughs. While homes in Souderton Area School district vary considerably, many homes are moderately priced and around the Montgomery County average. The majority of homes for sale in the district are single-family homes ranging from $350,000 to $600,000.

More affordable homes can be found primarily in Souderton and Telford boroughs, as there is an abundance of twin and townhomes for sale. For a bit more land and single-family homes, consider any one of the four townships served by the district. There is a pretty even mixture of newer or new construction homes for sale, mid-century ranch style homes (especially in Lower Salford) and old stone farmhouses. If you’re looking for lots of character and land, you’re probably more likely to find it in Salford or Upper Salford, whereas Franconia features lots of farms and Lower Salford offers a greater community feel.
