Willistown Township Quick Facts
Willistown Township traces its modern day roots to 1681, when it was part of the Welsh tract for William Penn. The township was originally called “Willeston.” In 1710, some of the very first roads (cowpaths) in the area were established in Willistown Township, and they remain under the same name today – Goshen, Sugartown and Boot Roads.

The majority of homes in WIllistown Township use a Malvern mailing address, although some parts of the municipality use Newtown Square, Berwyn, or West Chester.

Willistown Township is part of the Great Valley School District, which serves part of Philadelphia’s prestigious Main Line in eastern Chester County. The district is regularly ranked among the very top public school systems in Pennsylvania.

In addition to Great Valley School District, a number of private schools are located within the boundaries of the township, including The Phelps School and Villa Maria Academy.
What to Do in Willistown Township
Willistown is largely residential, and it enjoys its reputation as a charming, scenic township. While you won’t find big box stores nestled in Willistown, a number of major retail areas are located just a short drive away.

Malvern Borough is located just north of Willistown Township, and less than a five minute drive for many residents. The borough offers a number of delicious eateries including Restaurant Alba and Christopher’s, as well as our personal favorite, Malvern Buttery.

In addition to the township’s extensive park system, there are also a number of large nature preserves located within Willistown, including Okehocking Preserve, and Sugartown Preserve. These are filled with meadows, wetlands, and mature woodlands.

Homes in Willistown Township tend to be priced above the Chester County Average, and like much of Philadelphia’s Main Line, the majority of single-family homes are priced over $800,000.
