Schuylkill Township

Situated in northeastern Chester County is Schuylkill Township, which is renowned for its beautiful Valley Forge scenery, proximity to Phoenixville, and unique homes. Schuylkill Township spans nearly 9 square miles and is home to approximately 8500 residents.

Until November 4, 1826, the area was all considered part of Charleston Township. The adjacent township was divided and the eastern portion was named Schuylkill Township, after the nearby river. In 1849, the township was further divided when the Borough of Phoenixville was established.

Schuylkill Township encompasses the village of Valley Forge, which many residents use as a mailing address. Other homes in the township use Phoenixville as the primary mailing address.

The township is served by Phoenixville Area School District. Elementary school students attend Schuylkill Elementary. Additionally, an abundance of private school options are located nearby, including the Kimberton Waldorf School.

Outdoor enthusiasts will love Schuylkill Township! The municipality is nestled alongside the popular and scenic Schuylkill River, which offers trails for biking, hiking, and running. Additionally, the beautiful Phoenixville Country Club is located within the township. Schuylkill township is also home to Valley Forge Trattoria & Lounge.

While Schuylkill Township is largely residential in nature, Phoenixville Borough is located just five minutes away and offers dozens of delicious eateries, art galleries, cafes, and boutiques! Be sure to check out Steel City Coffeehouse, Black Lab Bistro, and Iron Hill Brewery.

Homes in Schuylkill Township tend to vary considerably, although they are generally priced at or above the Chester County average. The majority of homes for sale are typically single-family homes between $500,000 and $800,000, although more affordable options are available.

Perhaps the most coveted homes in the township are located on Valley Forge Mountain. This enclave of select homes offers unique architecture (including mid-century ranches and contemporary homes), privacy, and an incredible view overlooking the valley.

Additionally, the township has no shortage of luxury homes! The Valley Forge real estate market offers a blend of older historic homes (including Gentleman’s Farms with considerable acreage) and beautiful newer construction, nestled in luxury subdivisions.
