Nestled in Bucks County just twelve miles northeast of Philadelphia, Northampton is a convenient suburban township located in award-winning Council Rock School District. While Northampton is known for its newer luxury home subdivisions, it retains its charming history with friendly neighborhoods and unique properties. The large municipality spans over 26 square miles in the heart of Bucks County, and is home to approximately 39,000 residents.
Northampton Township Quick Facts
Officially incorporated in 1722, the township is believed to have been named after Northamptonshire, England after being settled by English colonists accompanying William Penn.

The majority of homes in Northampton Township use the mailing addresses of Holland, Ivyland, Churchville and Richboro.

Northampton Township is part of the award-winning Council Rock School District. Both Philadelphia Magazine and Newsweek have recognized Council Rock as being among the region’s best high schools. There are also a number of esteemed private schools located nearby, including The George School.
What to Do in Northampton Township
Northampton Township is largely residential, but located just a couple of minutes from major shopping centers, employers, and highways. Plus, if you enjoy a nice evening out at a great local restaurant, you’ll love the many options in and around Northampton Township. 59 Almshouse, Jake’s Eatery, and El Barrio Cantina and Tequila Bar are just a few of our local favorites!

The township is also located near plenty or park and recreational opportunities. Tyler State Park is located within Northampton, as well as Churchville Park, Springfield Lake, and Northampton Golf Club.

Homes in Northampton Township tend to be priced at or just above the Bucks County Average, although home values vary considerably in the large municipality.

Single homes in the area tend to fit into one of two categories: moderately-priced Cape Cods, ranchers, or Colonials, or newer luxury estates in private subdivisions. Newer homes are usually priced over $600,000 and are often situated on approximately an acre of land. Plus, it’s not uncommon to find homes in this area that are priced well over one million dollars!
