Located in northern Montgomery County just east of Pottstown is this friendly and tranquil township. Consisting of rolling hills and valleys and plenty of open space, New Hanover Township is a relatively affordable town and part of award-winning Boyertown Area School District. Plus, New Hanover Township is one of the fastest growing townships in the state of Pennsylvania! Still, New Hanover remains a semi-rural place to live and is home to approximately 11,000 residents across 21.6 square miles.
New Hanover Township Quick Facts
Originally inhabited by the Lenni Lenape tribe, the area now known as New Hanover was settled by German immigrants in the late seventeenth century. The township became officially incorporated in 1741.

The villages of New Hanover Township include Fagleysville, Frederick, Hoffmansville, Layfield, New Hanover Square and Sassamansville. Most residents of New Hanover Township use the mailing address of Gilbertsville. The township is part of the Boyertown Area School District.

Outdoor lovers and recreational enthusiasts will love New Hanover! New Hanover operates multiple large parks and open spaces, including Hickory Park, Swamp Creek Park, and Layfield Park – among others! The Deep Creek Nature Center is another popular spot, with opportunities for pretty nature walks, bird watching, and butterfly sightings!

New Hanover also partly borders the popular Green Lane Park, with plenty of trails, picnicking areas, and boat rentals. The township is also home to the Gambone Athletic Complex and Gilbertsville Golf Course.
