Marlborough Township

Nestled among the rolling hills of northern Montgomery County, Marlborough Township is a rustic and rural town with big backyards and wide open spaces! Located partly along the beautiful Green Lane Park, Marlborough Township offers plenty of opportunities for recreational and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as convenience to the towns of Green Lane, Perkiomenville, and Red Hill. This affordable municipality is home to just 3200 residents across 12.7 square miles.

Did you know that ancient volcanic activity created the current landscape in Marlborough Township? It’s true! The township is home to large boulder fields amongst woodlands and winding creeks.

The area now known as Marlborough was originally inhabited by the Lenape Turtle Clan of the Delaware Nation. The region was settled by European immigrants, however, in the 1730s, and was originally part of Salford Township. In 1741, residents petitioned the courts to create a separate municipality, and the township of Marlborough was born!

Most residents of Marlborough Township use the mailing address of Green Lane or Pennsburg. The township is part of Upper Perkiomen School District.

Nestled along the Unami Creek and Macoby Creek, the township offers plenty of recreational opportunities including the popular Knight Lake within Green Lane Park. Boat rentals are popular with local residents, and the area attracts residents from all over Greater Philadelphia for its beautiful hiking, running, and biking trails! Macoby Run Golf Course is also located within the township.

Homes for sale in Marlborough Township tend to be priced below the Montgomery County average, although there are a variety of homes for sale including luxury new construction! Most homes in Marlborough are affordably priced, however, with the majority of existing single-family homes for sale between $150,000 and $300,000. Many of these homes are located on an acre or more, and popular home styles include ranch homes and older Colonials. Mobile-home communities are also located in the municipality and are particularly affordable.

New construction is especially popular in Marlborough Township due to urban sprawl.
