This #historic home dates back to the 1740s and was the home of infamous Benjamin Loxley... THIS was his personal residence and the first house built in the courtyard. The current owners have lovingly restored it... a BRAND NEW kitchen with all new appliances was just completed! Gorgeous wood floors throughout the first (and second and third) floor are stunning. The beautiful kitchen looks out to the spacious dining room on one side and also to the gorgeous two tiered landscaped private backyard with walls at least 15 feet high for the ultimate in privacy. The living room w/high beamed ceilings and fireplace is a wonderful space for entertaining. The second floor has a fabulous master bedroom w/a fabulous fireplace and the hall bath has just been updated with white marble! The third floor has the second bedroom and overlooks the backyard. There is even a basement with another bathroom! This house is the only one in the courtyard that retains its original features. Benjamin Loxley came to the colonies at the age of 13 to become his uncles heir. He was apprenticed as a carpenter (the architect/builders of their day). After he finished his initial apprenticeship, he went onto become a journeyman, and purchased the land known as Loxleys Court c. 1741. He built his house in 1744. He was a known personal friend of Ben Franklin. Local legend says that the key for Franklins kite experiment came from this house, 2 Loxley Court. (Square footage in public records is wrong... home is much larger. Buyer solely responsible for square footage accuracy)
